Responsibility

Our Approach to Sustainability

How Young Cam Co Ltd thinks about environmental and social responsibility across construction, energy, transport, agriculture and vertical mobility.

Our Position

Aspirations stated honestly

Sustainability is part of how we want to grow as a company. This page sets out our aspirations and the principles we apply — it is not a report of certified results, and we do not publish environmental figures we cannot substantiate.

Our five divisions give us several practical ways to contribute: encouraging renewable energy, making better use of resources, supporting agricultural value chains and building responsibly. As the company develops, we intend to strengthen these practices further.

Six Pillars

Where our sustainability thinking applies

PILLAR 01

Responsible Infrastructure

Building in a way that considers safety, durability and the communities around each site, so that structures serve their users well for many years.

PILLAR 02

Sustainable Energy

Promoting solar and hybrid power where they suit a client's situation, helping reduce dependence on fuel-only generation.

PILLAR 03

Resource Efficiency

Using materials, fuel and energy carefully — in construction, transport and agriculture — because waste carries both financial and environmental costs.

PILLAR 04

Agricultural Development

Supporting productive agriculture and better-connected value chains that contribute to local food supply and rural livelihoods.

PILLAR 05

Long-Term Economic Growth

Contributing to infrastructure, energy access and logistics that help businesses in Cameroon operate and expand.

PILLAR 06

Community Development

Recognising that our work affects neighbours, workers and local communities, and acting with respect toward them.

Clarity

Our commitments and general good practice

To avoid confusion, we distinguish between what Young Cam Co Ltd commits to and widely recognised industry practices that inform our thinking.

Young Cam Commitments

What we commit to

  • Discussing solar and hybrid options with clients whenever energy is part of a project.
  • Planning work to limit avoidable waste of materials, fuel and time.
  • Treating safe working conditions as a priority on every site.

  • Respecting the communities and neighbours affected by our activities.
Industry Good Practice

Principles we draw on

  • Designing buildings for durability, ventilation and natural light in tropical climates.
  • Combining renewable generation with storage to improve power continuity.
  • Reducing post-harvest losses through timely processing, storage and transport.
  • Planning transport routes and loads to reduce empty journeys and fuel use.
  • Making buildings accessible to people of all ages and abilities.
